π My Girl Scout Silver Award Journey π
Over the past year, I have been working on earning my Girl Scout Silver Award, the second-highest award in Girl Scouts. This award challenges Girl Scouts to identify an issue they care about, develop a plan to address it, put that plan into action, and finally reflect on and share their experience ✨. It recognizes leadership, community involvement, and a commitment to making a positive difference.
For my Silver Award project, I chose to focus on spreading awareness about invasive species and their impact on native plants and animals. To accomplish this, I created an informative brochure that explains what invasive species are, how they affect local ecosystems, and what people can do to help protect our native species ππ.
Working with Chino Hills State Park has been an incredible experience. I learned so much about the park’s ecosystem, the challenges it faces, and the importance of protecting native species π³πΌ. I also had the opportunity to attend multiple community events to promote my brochure and educate other girls and community members about invasive species. Seeing people engage with my project and take steps to make a difference was incredibly rewarding.
This project has not only taught me valuable skills in leadership, communication, and project planning, but it has also strengthened my passion for environmental conservation. I am so proud of the work I accomplished and grateful for the support I received along the way. This Silver Award experience has inspired me to continue making a positive impact, and I can’t wait to start planning my Gold Award π in the future!
